Shallow Basin Book Review

Written by R. E. on July 9, 2014 and posted at SisterSinisterSpeaks.

FOUR STARS!

Beau Boudreaux is a high school senior living in the small town of Stray Oaks. He's dating the hottest girl in school, his father is a Pro Fisherman celebrity, and he's been accepted to college. It's just not the college he wants to attend, she's not the girlfriend he sees himself with for the rest of his life, and his father is only that in front of the cameras.

With graduation looming ever closer, Beau has some honesty to pass around if he wants to live his life the way he dreams of. But in Stray Oaks where everyone has secrets, there is a local legend that just might not be fiction at all, but a blood thirsty beast with an agenda of its own.

SHALLOW BASIN was listed as a YA Horror, but it didn't quite strike me as such. There is some mature content that may or may not work for a YA novel, but even so, it was a fun summer read book that kept me reading and guessing, and wondering what could possibly be in store for Book 2?
