Skill Level: Easy, beginner

Technique: Crochet, worked in rounds

Terms: US

Category: Homewares

Hook Size: Clover G (4.0 mm)

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft Party Yarn – Black Sparkle & Chocolate Sparkle, 100% acrylic

Yarn Weight: Size 4, 85 grams, 164 yards

Yarn Used: Large uses 49 yards. Small uses 14 yards.

Finished Size: 6 1/2” tall, 3” tall

Stitches: CH (Chain), DC (Double Crochet), SL (Slip Stitch), HDC (Half Double Crochet)

V Stitch = 2 DC, CH 3, 2 DC

Increase = 2 DC (large), 2 HDC (small)

Shells = 7 DC, CH 1 (large), 5 DC, CH 1 (small)

Gauge: Will be determined by the hook chosen.

Notes: Since the top row is a shell, there is no need to finish with sc.

Keep the yarn on the outside of the glass and away from the flame.

Peel off the label and stick to the bottom of candle.

Large Candle: WalMart - Better Homes, jar with lid.

Small Candle: WalMart – in boxed set of 5, use 3 small candles.

Adjust height as needed by adding an extra set of rows 6 & 7.

Rounds 6 & 7 are made in an alternating pair. I used 3 sets on the shorter candle and 4 sets on the taller candle.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Large Candle:

The Bottom:

F: Make a magic ring or CH 5 ring.

Round 1: CH 3, 11 DC in ring, SL (12)

Round 2: CH 3/DC, *INC around*, SL (24) Close bottom hole.

Round 3: CH 3/ DC, *INC, DC around*, SL (36)

Round 4: CH 1/HDC, *HDC around*, SL (36)

Round 5: CH 1, *INC of HDC, 8 HDC*, SL (40)

The result is a cup that covers about 1" of side height. It will fit tight around the glass base. If it's too tight use a 4.5 mm hook.

The Sides:

Round 6: CH 6/DC, CH 3/SK 7, *V stitch, CH 3/SK 7* around, SL in starting CH 3. (5 V stitches)

Round 7: SL into V stitch space, CH 3/6 DC in space, CH 1, *7 DC/CH 1* around, SL into starting CH 3 then SL 3 more chains ending in middle of shell (5 shells)

Small Candle:

The Bottom:

F: Make a magic ring or CH 5 ring.

Round 1: CH 3, 11 DC in ring, SL (12)

Round 2: CH 3/DC, *INC around*, SL (24) Close bottom hole.
