Crochet Baktus Mesh Shawl
This is a quick and easy shallow triangular shawl that has stripes without using different colored balls of yarn. The secret is to use a self-striping yarn, not a multi-colored yarn.There are two versions, one using DC and one using shells.

Hook Size: Clover H (5.0 mm)
Yarn: Ice – Antipiling Acrylic – Green Brown Shades. 100% Acrylic
Yarn Weight: Size 3, 100 grams
Yarn Required: 1 full skein plus ¼ ball (365 yards)
Finished Size: 62” wide, 15” long
Stitches: HDC (Half Double Crochet), CH (Chain), DC (Double Crochet), T (Turn), INC (Increase), SP (Space), DEC (Decrease)
Gauge: Will be determined by the hook chosen.
Notes: The double crochets stack in line. Increase/decrease on one side only. On HDC rows in rectangles, only do 1 CH for turning. On HDC rows on increase/decrease portion, do 2 CH for turning. On increase portion, make last DC in space of turning CH. On decrease portion, make 2togDC for last stitch. When doing HDC in CH SP, go under bar.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Foundation: Ch 17, T.
Row 1: HDC across (15), CH 1, T.
Row 2: CH 5 (counts as DC, CH), SK 1, DC in 3rd stitch, *CH 5, SK 1, DC* repeat to end, CH 1, T.
Row 3: HDC across (15), CH 1, T.
Row 4 - 13: Repeat rows 2 & 3, X 5.
Row 14: Repeat row 2, but INC last DC.
Row 15: Repeat row 3.
Row 16 – 53: Repeat row 14 & 15.
Row 54 – 59: Make rectangle. Same two rows but don’t increase.
Row 60 – 96: DEC last DC.
Row 97 – 109: Make rectangle.
Here is the overall shape. If you want a point at the center, just continue increasing then start decreasing.
Here is the pattern chart. The "C" on the end of rows is an optional picot.
I gathered the ends and added a pom pom.

OPTION 2: Baktus Shells Shawl

Size: Clover 7 (4.5 mm)
Yarn:
Ice – Color Fine. 100% Acrylic.
Yarn
Weight: Size 3, 50 grams
Yarn
Required: 1 full skein plus ¼ ball (153 yards)
Finished
Size: 32 shells wide X 16 shells long, 45” wide X 13 ½” long
Stitches:
CH (Chain), DC (Double Crochet), T (Turn), SC (Single Crochet)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Foundation:
Top down. Ch 193 (Multiples of 6 + 7), T.
Alternate rows 1 & 2 on chart.
