Crochet Candy Cane Covers

This is a quick and easy personal gift to include with other candy for the holidays. Hand them out to co-workers or to your children's friends. Also can be used as a bookmark, after the candy is removed or hang them as tree ornaments.

FREE PATTERN 


Skill level: Easy

Hook: Clover G (4.0 mm)

Yarn: Caron – Simply Soft Party – Red Sparkle, (size 4). Acrylic and polyester metallic.







Candy Cane: 5 ½” tall (If candy cane is longer add 4 chains = 1 shell)

Stitches: chain, single crochet, double crochet

Special Stitches:
INC = 2 SC in same chain
V = DC, CH1, DC
Shell = 5 DC in same chain

This pattern can be worked with the shells to the right or left.


Shells to the right. (First candy cane in photo.)


Shells to the left. (Second candy cane in photo.)


Foundation: Chain 32 (not loose). Turn.


Row 1: SC in 2nd Chain from hook, SC 5 times, INC 3 times, SC across. Turn. (34 SC)


Row 2: Chain 5 (counts as DC, CH1/SK 1), (DC, CH1/SK1) twice, V three times, CH1/SK1, (DC, CH1/SK1) ten times, DC in last. Turn. (20 DC)


Row 3: *Note – skip all chain 1’s. (SC in DC, SK1, Shell in DC, SK1, SC in DC) nine times. (9 Shells)
